AC Cobra MK III 427 Special Home One of only 10 examples, commissioned in 1989 by the Chairman of AC Cars, Brian Angliss, using the original factory tooling and components to original 1966, 427 Cobra specification. Make no mistake this is a genuine AC built Cobra not to be confused with an aftermarket “KitCar”. The provenance and history of this unique car is fully documented with a Certificate of Authenticity from John Owen, Chief Engineer of AC cars, and a 14 page transcription of a interview with Mr. Ashton Marshal, the original owner of the car. The car is also listed in the Shelby American Club directory. Powered by an original 427 side oiler coupled through a McLeod clutch to a Ford “big shaft” top loader transmission. The engine has been the subject of a recent rebuild and upgrade. Using a steel billet 3/8 stroker crankshaft, the displacement has been increased to 478ci. Internal components include: Alloy cylinder heads, Schriber cam, Carrillo rods, roller rockers, Venolia 12.5/1 pistons, tunnel wedge manifold and Holly four barrel single carbs. Dyno tested by Ron Shaver Racing Engines, producing a documented 551 horse power with 565lb torque. |
